Have ADHD? See How AKI Miami Can Provide A Remedy.

Master Darryle Lipsky

AKI Miami's programs teach concentration and self-control- precisely what people with ADHD need; yet our students walk away with so much more.

Marital arts pair lessons in self-control with cardiovascular activity, just what the doctor ordered for people with ADHD. Experts agree. “Cardio is one of the best treatments for ADD and poor mental focus, as well as for anxiety. It’s like a wonder drug for the brain,” says Edward Hallowell, M.D., a Harvard-trained psychiatrist and coauthor of Delivered from Distraction.

The science behind this tells us exercise increases blood-dopamine levels and improves communication among areas of the brain, upping focus and concentration.

The typical story of one of these students in our martial arts classes begins like this. He has his first class and starts fresh, learning to respect his environment, fellow students and himself. With each class he builds confidence, learning new skills and setting goals for a new belt. For the first time in his life, he feels at home in his own skin. He feels successful.

Do you know someone who is struggling and displaying symptoms of ADHD? Your doctor, pediatrician or psychologist might be a good resource in referring you to a professional who can make a proper diagnosis.
